Earlier this week, I experienced a real disconnect between what I saw myself creating in my life and business and my external circumstances. I was tired, overwhelmed, and exhausted from pushing and pushing. I had done the work. I am a master of Mindset and Mindfulness. I know what I should and should not do. So, why was this happening to me?
Well, what I can say is that it happens to all of us.
What I had not done is take the time to step back from my business, to step back from my work. I needed to step back and take some time for me, to take some time to look inward. Although my morning routine was consistent and it started my day in the right direction, I was allowing my external circumstance to dictate my internal condition. I was working every day, seven days a week, 12-16 hours a day, and I was feeling overworked and mentally exhausted. (I wonder why:))
Sometimes it seems so obvious, but somehow we just don’t do it. Sometimes we just think that if we work harder and longer and faster, than the universe will have to bring us what we want faster (Read: NOW). This is not how it works.
I love this quote from A Course in Miracles: “Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety.” This quote is so powerful to me that I have it up where I can see it clearly every day!
When we know with 100% certainty that what we desire is ours, there is no need to be anxious. It is just a matter of time before what we desire comes into form before our eyes. Our fear and our anxiety only prolong or push away that which we desire. And who wants that, right?!
So, when we are able to take the time to care for our mental, physical and spiritual well being, we can start to create the space for more gifts, blessings and our truest desires.
With all that said, here are some tips to get some more Self-Care in your weekly or daily routine:
- Schedule it! That’s right. Get out your calendar (right now, I’m not kidding) and schedule some time for Self-Care. Whether it is daily or weekly, just stick to it.
- Commit to it! When you commit to yourself and you commit to your word with yourself, some powerful things happen. Persistence. Progress. Results.
- Tell the People around you in your life what you are doing, and let them know how they can support you. Maybe that is helping you stick to it. Maybe it is giving you space during that Self-Care time
- Enjoy it! This is the best part. Do not let your Ego hijack your good time. Cause she will try and tell you that you need to be doing work or that this is a waste of time. She is wrong!
