I suffer from a very common affliction: Perfectionism.
How many of you also suffer from this affliction? I bet many!
For example, this blog and my coaching practice are years in the making due to my perfectionism. I was too worried about sucking and others looking at me like I was a failure.
I have learned through trial and error and much sound advice; that you just have to do it (as Nike says!).
“You will never know everything…just start.” – Michael Ferrera, Sr. (A Mentor)
“Don’t be afraid to start small and/or sucky.” – Marie Forleo (Inspiring Business Coach)
So, why should you get out there?
1. If you don’t, who will – there is only one you! The world needs what you have!
2. You will grow as a person. We all suck at anything until we don’t. So, you must take the leap (daring greatly) knowing that the universe has your back.
3. The road to success it riddled with failures. You must learn to accept, learn from and move past failures. Catherine Collautt notes that “failure is only a try that didn’t work this time.”
4. To live a life worth living you have to put yourself out there in the world!
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
