Every day I look to find stillness in this hectic and fast paced world. Although not always perfect in my ability to take time for stillness, it is a practice that allows me to center myself and become connected to my soul or inner guide.
I love the days when I sit in stillness for 5-20 minutes and allow my meditation to take me to a place of calm, peace, knowing and infinite intelligence. Just this week, I began to feel some overwhelm start to creep in due to the workload that was piling up. I walked outside for 10 minutes and sat in stillness with nature (this is my favorite place to meditate). This 10 minute meditation time I took allowed me to center and ground myself for what was ahead of me that day.
From this meditative space, we can clear anxiety and fear, worry and frustration; we can connect to that source of knowing and create infinite possibilities.
1. For a minimum of 5 minutes, sit in stillness first thing in the morning or just before going to bed in the evening. Find a suitable chair and simply close your eyes and allow your body to release and settle into a state of calm. If you are a beginner, don’t worry, simply commit to closing your eyes and not moving for a minimum of 5 minutes. Do not worry about whether there is brain chatter or what it is saying. Just notice the chatter and remain committed to sit in stillness. Pay attention to your breathing. Eventually you will get to a meditative state with practice.
