How often do you play the comparison game? How often do you see other successful women online and wish you were them?

Stop it! Right now. {insert: scary voice your mom had when she told you no.}

When we are new in business we are often looking to model other successful women. It is true that success leaves clues. However, do not play the comparison game. It is a dangerous game and, totally, feels sucky!

Besides, you are already a pretty awesome lady all by your dang self! You have your own skills, dreams, and knowledge that is on par with what only you can do in this world!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of watching my big brother marry the woman of his dreams. He chose her because of who she was, not because of who she was not. Not because she was someone else. But, because she was herself 100%.

This is the same in business. It can be scary to jump out there and put yourself {your true self} out there because not everyone will like you. But, that is OK. The people that find you are the people that are meant to find you. And, that is your tribe.

How to get out the Comparison Game

1. Get out of the comparison game by knowing that you matter!

You were put on this planet with your own gifts and talents, to be used for what is only YOUR purpose. Trust in who you are and who you are becoming. Results are important, but it is also who we become in our journey that matters.

2. Know that everyone at some point started where you are now.

Everyone must start at the beginning. I remember the first time this comparison conversation began to creep up in my mind. Watching a well put together, professionally shot video of a woman I very much looked up to. I thought, “I can’t do that.”

Lucky for me, I am quite aware of when negative self-talk starts to creep in. I said, “Oh, hells no.” And, I decided to use the sort function in youtube to find the absolute first video they ever did.

Do you know what I learned? Many people start with a video with crappy lighting, a basic outfit, and the essence of WHO THEY ARE. And, THAT is what matters: WHO YOU ARE!

3. When you find that you are comparing yourself, ask “what is it about what I am seeing that I desire or admire?” and know what you are seeing is also meant for you.

If you can see it, you can achieve it. The sole fact that you desire that thing means that the Universe/God has put it in your heart. Ardently go after what you desire, with the right intentions and you will achieve it.

4. Focus on your own business.

Focus on what you are here to do. What is your purpose for serving? You are unique and you have your own story. It is your story and your gifts and your why that will attract YOUR audience.

Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions about staying clear away from the comparison game.
